When God says Move!

If we compare following God’s lead to a stoplight, we would most likely think of the stopping part. Don’t go when the light is red.I think this is because most of us lack patience, so we find ourselves mostly being steadied. Don’t get ahead of God’s plan, right? Don’t take his promise and then force it to fruition in your own strength. A good example we can all relate with is poor Abraham and Sarah. So eager to see God fill His promises that they go out and make up their own path to get there. Introducing… Ishmael. How many of you know it’s not safe to run a red light?
But here’s what many of you might need to hear today. Many of you are patient. You are long-suffering. You know how to wait on the Lord. To you, I’d like to ask you this today. Did you know it’s just as dangerous to stay stopped when the light has turned green? It’s possibly more dangerous.
If God says, “Go!” then DO IT! And do it now. Don’t tarry. Don’t delay.
Remember when Moses was talking to the Israelites when the Egyptians drew near and the people began to panic. This was just BEFORE the big breakthrough to freedom and the parting of the seas. Moses tells the people one of the most lovely sounding verses in scripture. Moses proclaims, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still!” (Exodus 14:14 NIV)
But just because it’s lovely, it’s often quoted everywhere. Lots of people say lovely sounding things, but this was NOT what God had to say to the people.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!” (Exodus 14:15 NLT)
When God says to GO, don’t keep sitting there, thinking about it. Don’t just sit there and pray. If He says go, you go!
(I’m speaking to my own self RIGHT now. In fact, with urgency, the Lord put this on my heart and asked me to write it down and post immediately.)
I love you friends. He is in it. If God is for you, who can be against you? Surrender to His moving hand and His steadying hand. Both the red lights and the green are crucial to follow and obey.
How is God telling you to move? Maybe putting it out there is one first step. Somehow, writing it down makes it more real and keeps us accountable.
