Hope for the Weary Mom (Ch 4)
The Marathon of Mothering:Ice breaker: Which of these is easier for you? Which is challenges you the most?
a) run
b) sprint
c) walk
d) stretch
Well, I for one am a rockstar stretcher. And that’s about it. While I get made fun of for my gait, I’d sure like to be made whole and run again someday. Yes, again. I did for a couple of months and that counts. : )
Favorite Quote:
“Just like the Israelites gathered enough manna for each day, we too need to gather from God’s Word daily. He wants to be our source as well. We have this promise to remind us: ‘For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope’ (Romans 15:4).” Thacker and McGlothlin, 62
“We can run on, trusting he will provide what we need especially in the most wearying of days. ‘I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there too–your reassuring presence, coming and going’ (Psalm 139:5).” Thacker and McGlothlin, 63
Questions for Reflection:
(This week, these are from the back of the book in the study guide section. Great questions!)
- How have you changed or matured in your mothering?
- God’s word is our anchor of Hope. What is a verse you cling to?
Homework:
Grab a notecard and handwrite a verse you need to hide in your heart and commit to memory. Feel free to share your verse with us here!
Mine is from Isaiah 54. I kept this by the window in front of my toilet in Florida until I had it memorized!
“All my children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be the peace of my children.”
Meet Erika:
I also want to introduce you to Erika, one of my dearest friends. She is an amazing runner and mother. This week, I asked her to share her thoughts on perseverance with us. So give her a warm welcome when you see her post on Monday.
Bless you, mamas! I’m so glad you are here and I’m praying for you, that He lifts up your gaze, that you don’t turn away. My prayer for you today is from Ezekiel 37. ‘I prophesy to the breath and say, Live! Live you dry bones!’
